Confirm this year’s published event and the street that is actually open, then send us the table time. We will send a written quote. An independent provider operates the assigned vehicle.

Start with this year’s listing, not a standing May 5 myth

May 5 is a calendar date. The party is whatever organizer actually published for that year. Check the City events calendar and the road-closure list before you request hours. A 2025 Gaslamp flyer or a 2026 Old Town weekend is not a standing reservation.

If the City published it

Use the current event name, the listed hours, and the proposed street footprint. Then send us an open corner outside that footprint.

If you only have last year’s flyer

Hold the restaurant table or wait for this year’s organizer. Do not ask us to price a street that may be closed or unused.

  • 73% of sampled inquiries requested 4 hours.

Write your real headcount, hours, and date into the request. These inquiry figures are not a reservation.

Did this year’s organizer actually publish the May celebration?

Do not build a route from a blog that still says “every May 5 in Old Town.” The City’s special-event listings change. City of San Diego Events Calendar is the current permitted-event calendar. In 2026 the City published Fiesta Old Town as a weekend event, with a May 3 listing from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., not a promise that May 5 will always look the same.

A 2025 City listing for Gaslamp Cinco de Mayo sat on Fifth Avenue between G Street and Island Avenue. That map is history unless the City publishes it again. If you cannot find this year’s organizer, admission, and street, you do not yet have a transportation job. Hold the table or the ticket first.

Monday, May 5 can be a quiet street while the Saturday next to it is the only published night. Send us the date printed on the City page or the restaurant confirmation, not the holiday name alone. If both a weekend festival and a Monday dinner exist, those are two different requests.

An assigned independent provider—not San Diego Party Ride—operates the vehicle and employs or supplies the driver. A last-year photo of a crowd does not prove a bus can sit on the same block this year.

Old Town State Historic Park is a park, not a bus dock

Illustration of planning a route with a map and calendar
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park sits on San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street

The official California State Parks name is Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Old Town San Diego State Historic Park lists the park on San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street, with visitor-center hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the current park page. That is a historic park with a plaza, museums, and restaurants. It is not a commercial staging lot.

Visitor-center hours are not vehicle hours. If the group wants to be inside a museum before 10 a.m., that is a walking plan from an outside curb, not a reason to ask a coach onto the plaza. If dinner is after the visitor center closes, write the restaurant street address. The park page does not assign a loading dock after dark.

The City’s 2026 Fiesta Old Town notice named a proposed footprint on San Diego Avenue between Twiggs Street and Harney Street, and on Harney Street between San Diego Avenue and Congress Street, at 2540 San Diego Avenue. Those blocks are exactly where a group often asks a bus to “just pull up.” If the City closes them, the vehicle needs a legal street outside the closure.

Send us the open-street corner you can actually use, plus how far the group will walk to the plaza. Do not write only “Old Town.”

Streets the City has actually named on recent permits

San Diego Avenue between Twiggs and Harney
Named on the City’s 2026 Fiesta Old Town notice. Treat it as a possible closure, not a drop-off lane, until this year’s list is posted.
Harney Street between San Diego Avenue and Congress
Also on that 2026 proposed footprint, at 2540 San Diego Avenue. Walk from an open corner if those blocks are closed.
Fifth Avenue between G Street and Island Avenue
Named on a 2025 Gaslamp Cinco de Mayo City listing. It is not this year’s map unless the City publishes it again.

Closed streets: last year’s map is not this year’s permit

Name the open intersection after you check this year’s closure list

City of San Diego Road Closures is the City’s current road-closure list. San Diego Municipal Code: Passenger Loading Zones covers active passenger-loading time limits on ordinary days. A festival permit can override the curb you used last spring. Recheck both pages for the date on your calendar, including the Saturday and Sunday around May 5.

Downtown is a different problem from Old Town. A Gaslamp listing on Fifth Avenue is not an Old Town listing on San Diego Avenue. If your dinner is in the Gaslamp and your afternoon is in the park, write two geographies. Use Caltrans QuickMap on the day for incidents that the festival page will not mention.

Barrio Logan is a real San Diego neighborhood. Chicano Park Day is a separate April commemoration on the Saturday closest to April 22. Do not treat it as a stand-in Cinco de Mayo street festival. If you want a Barrio Logan restaurant, send that restaurant’s street address and ask the host where a commercial vehicle may load.

Hold the table or the ticket before you request the hours

Transportation does not include a festival wristband, a patio table, or a cover charge. If the night is a restaurant, hold the reservation for the real headcount, then send us that address and the seating time. If the night is a published street event, confirm it is still listed for your date.

Ask us to put onboard drink and food rules in the written quote. Those rules belong to the assigned provider. California ABC License Lookup is how you confirm a named venue’s California alcohol license. NHTSA Drunk Driving Guidance is federal impaired-driving guidance. A reserved vehicle is still the group’s ride home, not a bar.

If someone wants to stay later than the pickup, they should have their own way home. The reserved vehicle does not have to add extra hotel stops unless that is written into the hours.

  • The date you actually want, which may not be May 5
  • One organizer cell number
  • Start address: house, hotel, or lot
  • Published event or restaurant full street address
  • How many people, and whether anyone needs easier boarding
  • Last pickup landmark if the festival street is closed

Ready to send this year’s address and the table time?

Call or use the quote form with the date, start address, the published event or restaurant street, headcount, and the last pickup that still works if a street is closed.

One district night versus a three-neighborhood hop

A clean May night is usually one published event or one dinner, then one pickup. Hopping Old Town, a Barrio Logan mural block, and a Gaslamp rooftop in the same reserved hours sounds festive. It is also three loading problems and a lot of time spent looking for a legal curb.

Put the night in one line before you compare vehicle photos. Example: “Pick us up at this hotel. Drop us at this open corner near the published event. Collect us at this landmark at this time.” If a second neighborhood is in that sentence, it is a second ride. Price it only if the hours can still cover the walk and the ride home.

Old Town sits next to Interstate 5 and the Old Town transit area. Downtown Gaslamp sits in the grid south of Broadway. Those are short miles on a quiet Tuesday and a long crawl when a permit closes the avenue you wanted. Do not treat drive time as a fixed number. Ask us to price the hours against the addresses you actually hold.

A smaller vehicle can be the better first choice when the only open curb is tight. A larger coach can wait farther away while the group walks. Tell us which trade you want. We will not guess it from “about twenty friends.”

What the May quote has to write down

Illustration of a written transportation quote being reviewed
Ask us to name the assigned provider, vehicle, hours, and the open-street pickup

Call (619) 354-1420 or send one May request from this page. Include the date, your cell number, the start address, the published stop, the backup corner if the street is closed, and the latest hour that still works.

The written quote should name who is operating the trip, which vehicle or written backup you are buying, how many hours are reserved, and what waiting, overtime, deposit, final payment, and cancellation look like. Ask us to write the open-street pickup, not only the festival name.

If the City posts a new footprint after you request the quote, call us before the group leaves the hotel. A new Harney Street closure is a new corner, not a reason to send the driver a pin from the sidewalk. Ask whether the hours or the total change.

If the headcount or the published address changes, ask us whether the hours or the quote total change before you update the group thread. Use the CPUC charter-party link in the source list to confirm the assigned provider’s authority before money changes hands.

Cinco de Mayo ride questions we hear most

No. The City listing changes. In 2026 the published Old Town weekend was Fiesta Old Town on May 2–3, not a promise that May 5 repeats the same map. Check the City events calendar for the year you are planning.

Which vehicle fits a May night with closed streets?

Start with passenger count and trip purpose, then verify comfortable capacity, route fit, luggage, amenities, and the exact assigned vehicle.

Quick vehicle matcher

What should your group compare first?

Use this as a starting point. The assigned vehicle, comfortable capacity, luggage space, amenities, and availability still need written confirmation.

Party bus

A party bus is the natural comparison point when the ride is part of the celebration. Match capacity to comfort, stops, and time on board.
